My name is Beryl Adhiambo Otieno from Homa Bay, Kenya. I am the second born in our family. I am partial orphan I lost my mother in the year 2002, I only have my father as my parent or guardian. I am a single mother of one child. Since the death of my mother my father doubled up as the mother and father he was our everything thanks to God he struggled to see us through our education of which I managed to complete my form four level and later joined college but couldn’t complete because I was pregnant.
I ended up in the wrong crowd and got involved with drug abuse. Boys would use me to sell drugs to others and unfortunately I got in a position where where I was involved in sex for money just to survive.
Later in my life, I worked in bars, thinking that I could make more money to go back to college. But that turned into a nightmare of more sex and drugs.
I met a man, Pastor John, who told me about the love of Jesus Christ for me. I could not imagine that, and I did not want to listen. But over time, I did listen.
After coming to know I did not want to work in the bar any more. But I also could not go home because my father would want to know why.
A friend of Pastor John’s offered to pay my rent for two months.
My father found out that I was now a Christian. He was bitter and never wanted to see me back home. This has been a hard life for me, and I made bad choices along the way.
The dream in my mind now is to finish my education, and later get a job that can support me and my child. I believe that God will answer my prayers. JP
