What is Real Restoration’s “Hope 4 Angels” program and how does it work?
It is a program designed specifically to ensure that high-risk girls can continue their primary and secondary education. Girls selected for our program have typically lost one or both parents from either death or divorce, and are not given the option of attending school. The monthly donation for each girl, when spread out over a full year, is enough to cover initial expenses such as books and uniforms as well as monthly school fees.
Why is money needed for a girl to attend school?
The exact circumstances vary from country to country. Although some education is usually required and there are public (government) schools, there is still a financial barrier for attendance. Students usually must pay school fees, buy their own books and supplies, and wear required uniforms and footwear. If the family cannot afford these things and no one else steps forward to help, then the girl cannot attend school.
How are the girls selected?
Real Restoration relies on our trusted international partners in the seven countries where we work to identify girls who have either dropped out of school or are at high risk of doing so because of a change in family circumstances. Although there are no guarantees of success, our partners refer girls who truly want to stay in school and are motivated to take advantage of your support.
What about contacting a girl that I am sponsoring?
Communicating with the girl you sponsor is an important part of the program. We encourage you to write to your girl on a regular basis and maybe even make a short video to send to her, and we would expect her to write back. For security purposes all communications must go through Real Restoration. Please connect with us through [email protected] to let us know if you would like to communicate with your sponsored girl.
How long is the commitment for sponsoring a girl?
Your relationship with a specific girl is an important aspect of this program, and we ask that you commit to a year. We hope that you would continue your support after that, as we keep girls in the program during their K-12 educational years. If your circumstances should change and you can no longer continue your support, just let us know and we will discontinue your monthly donations and find another sponsor for your girl. We would also encourage you to consider making a one-time donation to the "Where Needed Most" fund.
Why should I sponsor a child through Real Restoration?
There are many other organizations that offer sponsorship programs, but Real Restoration is unique in that we focus solely on high-risk girls through our trusted network of local international partners. Education of girls not only lifts those girls out of a vicious cycle of poverty and exploitation, but also has the potential to benefit entire families and society in general.
Where exactly does my monthly donation go?
For each girl there are fixed school fees that vary from location to location, and harder to predict variable costs such as books, supplies and uniforms. There are also fixed fees for transferring money to our international partners. So while most of your $45/month goes directly to the girl you are sponsoring, some of it covers our overhead for transferring money, and some goes into a general pool to cover unexpected expenses.
How does Real Restoration show the love of Jesus in the context of this program?
The focus of Hope 4 Angels is education of girls, and our motivation is to show the love of Jesus to these girls in a very tangible way. To the extent possible, they will first learn of Jesus through our international partners, who will have developed a personal relationship with each girl. Your contact with a girl you sponsor is another important way for them to learn of Jesus and his love for them.
What countries does Real Restoration work in for this program?
Right now we are sponsoring girls in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Kenya and Uganda.
Would it be possible for a group such as a Sunday School class to support one or more girls?
Yes, we think that such an arrangement would be ideal. For example, a children’s class could support a girl of similar age, which would not only benefit the girl being sponsored but would immeasurably enrich the lives of the girls in the class. Or an adult Sunday School class or Bible study group might want to sponsor multiple girls as there are often sibling groups that are in need.
